We haven't gone into this gung-ho though. We have researched the route, tides and currents and spoken to the RNLI in Wales before actually committing. Nothing says it's not possible and that enough for me to give it a go, which is pretty much the same mentality I had when deciding to Swim Britain in the first place. Also with the good weather we are having it make sense to get a big crossing out the way while we can. I'd hate to get to the Isle of Man in August and then have to wait a week for bad weather. Make hay while the sun shines.
So on Thursday the 25th at 10am I'll start my swim across from St David's towards Ireland which will take a good 4 or 5 days depending how we do with the cross tides. Sorry Wales. I was really looking forward to exploring your coast but I'll have to come back again on my bike and follow the coast path.
Ireland!!!! I cant wait to finally explore you properly. My family left Ireland in 1895 and took a ferry to Africa where they settled so I have always had an affinity to the Emerald Isle.
To be sure, to be sure . . . (I'll get my coat)
